Fasting Blood Sugar |
Fasting for 6-8 hours, only drinking water is allowed during the fasting time |

2 Hours Post Prandial Blood Sugar |
The patient should be fasting for 6-8 hours, then he eats & drinks (in not more than 10 minutes) then a blood sample is taken after two hours from starting eating. During the two hours nothing should be eaten, Only water & medications are allowed. |

Glucose Curve |
Fasting for 6-8 hours, then the patient is given a glucose dose (differs according to weight) then blood samples are obtained after 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours & 3 hours. After the glucose dose nothing should be eaten, Only water & medications are allowed. |

Lipid Profile |
Fasting for 10-12 hours, Only water & medications are allowed. |

Semen Analysis |
The patient should avoid intercourse or masturbation for 3-4 successive days before doing the test. It is better to give the sample inside the lab. If from outside, it should reach the lab in less than 20 minutes. The first drops of the seminal fluid contain most of the sperm count. |

Prostatic Massage or Urethral Swab |
These tests should be reserved. Please contact the lab. The patient has to avoid urination one hour before the test. it is better to avoid antibiotic treatment for 48 hours before the test. |

Vaginal or Cervical Swab |
These tests should be reserved. Please contact the lab. The patient has to avoid intercourse for 2 days before the test and not to use any vaginal douches in the day of the test. It is better to avoid antibiotic treatment for 48 hours before the test. |

Urine Culture |
Hands and genitalia are washed by water. Then the urinary orifice is washed with alcohol (males) or dettol (females) then washed with water only. The first drops of urine are voided in the toilet and then the remaining urine sample is put in the sterile cup provided by the lab. It is better to avoid antibiotic treatment for 48 hours before the test. |

24 Hours Urine Collection |
After waking up, the patient has to void the urine in the toilet and record the time, then all the urine will be collected in a sterile & dry bottle for 24 hours starting from the time recorded before. During collection, the urine is reserved in a refrigerator and to be send to the lab immediately after finishing the collection |

Sputum Collection for 3 Successive Days |
It is better to give the first morning sample for 3 successive days. Every day the sample has to be send to the lab immediately. The patient can use the water vapor to give the sample. Take the sample should be sputum and not saliva. |

Stool Culture |
It is better to avoid antibiotic treatment for 48 hours before the test. For children, samples should be given in sterile cups only. |
|
Occult Blood in Stool |
The patient should avoid taking the following food & medication for 48 hours before the test:
Meat, Rheumatoid drugs, Aspirin, Vitamin C medications & Cortisone. |

Therapeutic Drug Level Monitoring |
The drug should be taken regularly for 5 days before the test. Vomiting & diarrhea should be avoided 2 days before the test. |

G6PD Enzyme Level (Favism) |
The test can't be performed after blood transfusion or a crisis. |
|
VMA – 5 HIAA – Catecholamines in Urine |
The patient will collect urine for 24 hours in a dry clean bottle provided by the lab (contains 10 mls HCL 10%). The patient should avoid taking the following for 48 hours before the test:
Tea, Coffee, Nuts, Chocolate, Vanilla, Egg planet & Tomato. |
